Sedation Dentistry – East Riverton, WY
Trading Anxiety for Peace at Every Dental Visit

Making sure your child remains comfortable during their dental appointments is essential. One way we accomplish this at Children’s Dentistry of Central Wyoming is through sedation dentistry. Dr. Paulson and our team are here to ensure your child remains calm and relaxed while in the treatment chair. By offering nitrous oxide or general anesthesia, we can create a positive experience that will lead to more pleasant visits in the future. If you are curious whether your child is eligible for either of the sedation methods, call and schedule an appointment with our team today.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
When mild anxiety causes your child to experience displeasure at the thought of visiting the dentist’s office, we can help with nitrous oxide sedation. This quick and easy method produces calming effects almost instantly, allowing your little one feel comfortable and unfazed during treatment.
We will place a nasal mask on your child’s face before having them inhale the nitrous oxide. In no time, they will be at ease while Dr. Paulson works. When finished, we will remove the mask, turn off the gas, and instruct them to inhale pure oxygen for a few minutes. This will allow them to resume normal activities after their appointment.
General Anesthesia
As a sedation dentist for kids, Dr. Paulson is trained to administer general anesthesia to young patients. Whether your child experiences severe dental anxiety, has physical or intellectual disabilities, or is preparing to undergo multiple extensive procedures, general anesthesia can be a safe and comfortable way for them to receive essential care.
If recommended for your child, it will be administered at Casper Surgical Center or Wyoming Medical Center, where Dr. Paulson is credentialed. There, a licensed anesthesiologist and full surgical team will ensure your child remains safe and comfortable from start to finish. They will handle all anesthesia needs, as well as preoperative and postoperative care.
Dr. Paulson will complete the necessary treatment while your child sleeps soundly, unaware of their surroundings and free of any pain. Once finished, your child will be sent home to rest for 1-2 days, depending on the type of service they receive.
